PROPELLER AND DECALS

The propeller was irst sprayed sand yellow,
and after that had dried, I added a wood
pattern by brushing a red brown colour on
with a stif brush. The proper areas were
then masked, and the other sections also
sprayed khaki green. The tip was sprayed
dark blue and after that dried, the whole
propeller was assembled. The main wheels
had been kept separate and where irst
sprayed Khaki before painting the wheels
with black grey. I then removed the masking
and unfortunately the landing strut broke
of, so I fashioned a new one from copper
wire which is a lot sturdier. I then added
the little bombs under the wing and brush
painted those, together with some other
details, before glossing the entire surface
with Johnson’s ‘Klear’ in preparation for
the decals. The decals went on like a charm;
good colour density (even the white sections
of the decals), super thin, so they really
showed the underlying surface features,
yet no tendency to curl in on themselves.
A nice touch are also the various service

markings that Eduard included on the sheet.

After the decals had dried, I brushed on

another coat of ‘Klear’ to seal them in and

then added the upper wing to the fuselage

and the main wheels to the gear. I left this

then for a day a two before adding the

rigging, for which I used 0.2 mm nickel-

silver rod from Albion Alloys, cut to size

and glued in place with super glue. The

antennae were reproduced using elastic

thread from Ushi Van Der Rosten. With all

wires in place the whole model was sprayed

lat clear from a Tamiya spray can and after

that I used a pin-wash of thinned Humbrol

enamels to brings out the various details.

CONCLUSION

As I said at the start, even though this

is ‘just’ the weekend edition, the whole

package that Eduard provides oozes quality.

This was only conirmed during the build,

with excellent part it, though a bit iddly in

places, detailing is comprehensive, and the

decals are great. Absolutely recommended!
