DESIGN AND FUNCTION: A fl atish saucer-shaped housing
protects the omnidirectional element inside. A 1-inch-by-14-thread
socket gives secure mounting on any mast with optional brackets.
AMPLIFIER: The two-TV-output adjustable gain amplifi er allows
turning down gain for nearer signals and turning it up for more
distant signals. The adjustment requires keeping the amplifi er
in a convenient location. Adjusting the amplifi er downward gave
us better reception of nearer stations, but advancing gain did not
increase the distance of reception in our test area.
IN THE BOX: Antenna element, 30 feet of coax, F-connectors, AC/
DC amplifi er, AC power adapter. Mounting devices are optional.
BEST APPLICATIONS: Boats over 30 feet with the ability to
soften rougher sea conditions. The larger element captures more

DESIGN AND FUNCTION: This compact dome received all the
major networks except the VHF frequency NBC, which none of
our antennas were able to receive consistently in our test. Its size
makes it simpler to install than the saucer-shaped antennas, but
its size is a handicap in capturing more distant signals.
AMPLIFIER: The two-TV-output adjustable gain amplifi er allows
turning down gain for nearer signals and turning it up for more
distant signals. We set the gain at low, medium and high in channel
scans, and found fewer at low but no more at medium than high.
