W

hat does the future of
sustainability in the RV industry
look like?
There is a small percentage
of RVs on the market in Australia and
New Zealand that are showing a clear
movement towards an environmentally-
friendly future, and this burgeoning
trend towards minimising our carbon
footprint should show signs of rapid
development in the next five-to-ten
years.
Serious developments overseas have
seen THL/Britz release the entirely battery-
powered Britz eVolve onto the market. With
a range of up to 120km, this fully-electric
motorhome based on the LDV EV80 cab
chassis, is a cruisy and comfortable ride and
an innovative one at that. Malcolm Street
gives it his review on page 36.
There is an unspoken etiquette within the
RV community to respect our environment
and ‘leave no trace’ but in this ‘Green’ issue
we’ve highlighted a number of products
that we can ditch or switch when we hit the
road, as a simple reminder to minimise the
mountain of waste that goes into landfill
and our natural surroundings each year.
Since the recycling debacle last year with
our recycling no longer being shipped
overseas, the new mantra is ‘Refuse, Re-use
and Recycle’ and it’s actually simpler than it
sounds - some easy options can be found on
page 44.
‘Retrofitting’ your van is a cheap and
creative solution to revamping the old
into something new again, and with the
increase in demand for alternative housing

solutionsandholidayoptionsonAirbnb,
many people have begun renting out their
retro caravans as an extra income stream.
We realise that everyone who reads this
magazine will want to take their caravans
out on the road (and compliant with road
vehicle regulations), but giving new life
to these vintage caravans is a cheap and
sustainable alternative. We spoke to three
people from Sydney who have made
retrofitting caravans their passion in our
article ‘Refit for a King and Queen’ on page
52.
In response to some of your emails, there
have been suggestions for inclusion of more
product tests, which we’ve included in this
month’s issue on page 118 with the Nissan
Navara, as well as more reviews, specifically
the family offroaders, which can be found
in the Wonderland Amaroo 2100 on page
92 (and on the cover). We will continue
to include more practical caravan guide
information, and a little taste of this can be
found in our power management article on
page 68.
We hope you enjoy and safe travels!
