touch, as it brought the whole front
and living areas together.
Lola is still running her original
1.9tdi 105bhp engine but it has
received lots of care and attention
over the past five years, such as a
gearbox recon and new clutch, new
head gasket and top half rebuild, plus
adding in an Allard EGR Valve Delete
Kit. Rear parking sensors and Bilstein
shocks with Eibach 40mm lowering
springs have also been fitted.
Michael adds, “I have always
dreamt about owning a Split screen
or a Bay, but when it came to being
able to buy our own bus I wanted
something that I could use as the
daily driver and also pop my bikes
on to go away to bike events on
the weekends. I really enjoy the
community spirt that goes with
owning such an iconic vehicle,
even if it isn’t the classic split or
bay window van, especially the
versatility that you can have it; as
well as holidaying in the Alps last
year we also enjoy shows and just
taking the bus out places and having
a picnic.”
With the family now numbering
five, Lola no longer really fits the
bill, and will be moving on to life
with a new family. The new project
will be to convert a Crafter and
then head for a Grand Tour around
Europe. Happy Trails!
