and rivers, across which ply frequent local ferries. The
amount of water between places means you can get a
water taxi home from the pub which has a certain appeal.
I stayed at Treloan campsite near Portscatho which is
right on the coast path, sea views all round, and an easy
walk into the village which has a friendly local pub, café

and Tardis of a general store. It was the perfect place to
park up the camper to explore the area by foot and bike.
The walk around the peninsular from Portscatho is
highly recommended. The morning was spent on the
rocky south coast with turquoise waters on white sands.
As the coast path rounds St Anthony Head the landscape
changes as the Fal estuary comes into view with the walk
passing along wooded creeks. I got the ferry to the tiny
harbour of St Mawes on the north side of the Percuil
River. It was the ferryman, his dog and me, as we weaved
between the moored sailing boats to the idyllic little
harbour, the September sun glistening on the water.
Back at the campsite, the soothing sounds of gentle
waves on rocks progressively became a roar as Cornwall
