Let’s take a closer look

Top You can just make out the bus parked in front of the Cactus
Pete’s Casino in the sixties
Upper middle The bus as it arrived, notice how the signwriting
is barely legible
Lower middle The exterior may look battered and faded but the
underneath has been fully repainted in the body colour
Bottom Major fabrication was required to the make custom seat
bases to facilitate the tubbing and chassis raise

sections had also to be created. In
keeping with preserving a stockish
look (despite the custom stance)
14” original steel wheels have been
powder coated in Blue White and
fitted with new hubcaps painted in
Turkis.
Interior wise they wanted
something clean, simple and
classy; as it was not a camper they
deciding on two facing benches for
sitting and relaxing. As luck has it
two excellent VW businesses are
local to them; after fitting a full
width Rusty Lee rock and roll bed,
Richard Booth Design did all the
necessary woodwork boxing it in
and creating the rear facing bench
and fitting laminate flooring before
Ken’s Customs set about trimming
the door panels and seats and fitting
new woollen headliner. Adam and
Lee opted for Caramel vinyl and
Oatmeal Tweed fabric to harmonise
with the cream finished seat bases,
making for a spacious and luxurious
interior that surprises people when
