IFYOU’RECONFUSEDby

then don’t panic, we were too.
The 2018 MX Nationals Champ
had been fi lling his IG account
with riding shots on a Suzuki. All
the signs suggested he was
bound for the U.S. aboard a ride
with the yellow Japanese
manufacturer. But, just a few
weeks ago it was announced
Ferris will ride for the Monster
Energy Yamaha Factory team
in the FIM Motocross World
Championship.
However, for all those Suzuki
fans out there don’t panic, the
Yamaha ride should only be
temporary. Ferris is coming in to
replace Romain Febvre who
broke the talus bone in his ankle
at Round 1. Febvre went in for
surgery on 13 March and was told
to expect a six-week recovery
time.ThispromptedMonster

Ferris back on blue?

fi rst rider to win all 10-rounds of
the series.
The bike Ferris will ride is a
Factory YZ450FM. Ferris will
make his 2019 MXGP debut on 24
March at Matterley Basin, in
Winchester, England. It is the
second round of the FIM MXGP.
Matterley Basin is the fi rst of
three back-to-back MXGP rounds.
Ferris will also contest the two

rounds that follow. Round three
in Valkenswaard, The
Netherlands, and round four in
Pietramurata, Italy. But, if Ferris
does well, who’s to say they
won’t sign him for the rest of
the season?!
So what happened to the
Suzuki he had in his shed? The
rumours we’ve heard suggest
Ferris will still probably ride for
JGR Suzuki in the Lucas Oil Pro
Motocross Championship in
America. He is likely to sub out
current JGR Suzuki rider and
fellow Aussie Chad Reed who is
only signed to supercross. But,
like I said, these are just rumours.
Watch this space.
Meanwhile, by the time you
read this the FIM Monster Energy
AMA Supercross Championship
will only have a few rounds of
racing left and it’s shaping as one
of the closest seasons in recent
memory. In an unusual
phenomenon, most of the top
riders have not crashed out with
injury (save for Jason Anderson
and Justin Barcia) resulting in a
four-way fi ght for the title. KTM’s
Cooper Webb and Marvin
Musquin, Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac
and Honda’s Ken Roczen are
separated by 27 points after
Round 11. Webb holds a 14-point
lead over Musquin but with six
rounds to go he will not be able
to just fi nish in the top fi ve.
A win in the AMA Supercross
garners 26 points while second
receives 23 and third 21, meaning
Musquin only needs to win four
more rounds with Webb fi nishing
second in each of those races to
take the overall lead. Tomac is 21
points behind which means he
not only needs to win every
round but he needs Webb to drop
off the podium a few times, the
same goes for Roczen. But, a
DNF from any of these riders this
close to the season fi nal in Las
Vegas would mean victory is
near impossible. Bring on the
next month!
