Suzuki'sRM85Lhasbeenamainstay in the yellow
lineupformanyyears.Beinga loyal servant has come
at a cost though with few changes made in the last
decade. But, why mess with something that just works?
Suzuki aren't breaking new ground with the 2019
RM85L, it's the same reliable racer we've seen for
years, and that's why it's so attractive. The benefi t of
sticking with the same model is the ability to reduce
the price. Becasue Suzuki haven't had to change the
moulds, invest in R&D or purchase new products, the
end cost does not infl ate like some of its competitors

prices have. This makes it an excellent backyard racer.
The 85cc motor is fed by a reed-valve intake and
Keihin PE28 carburettor while a rotary power valve
controls the exhaust port timing but it just isn't as
strong as some of the other machines. However, this is
great news for kids new to racing or those cutting laps
on the family farm.
The upside-down 37mm Showa open-cartridge fork
and Showa Shock are of the same ilk and will be better
suited to C- or possibly B-grade riders. But remember,
like the DR range of Suzukis, you're buying this bike for
its reliability and fun factor!
