IT HAS BEEN anothercrazy
month full of ups, downs and
a podium in Detroit.
What a feeling to finally be
back on the podium again. It
had been a long time
between drinks and I have to
say it felt great. That feeling
never gets old!
This was my 132nd podium
and I was stoked to deliver
JGR their first podium result
in a couple of years.
My first podium was in
2003 so it is a little crazy to
think I recorded my 132nd
podium 16 years later. I am
proud of that number it is a
pretty remarkable
achievement and not a bad
effort for the oldest guy in
the field.
It was awesome to be on
the podium with Monster
EnergyKawasaki’sEliTomac
and SmarTop/Bullfrog Spas/
MotoConcepts Honda’s Justin
Brayton. They are two of the
best Supercross riders in the
world at the moment so I was
proud to be up there with them.
A few people have asked
me for my thoughts on the
Triple Crown format; I quite
like the race format but I am
not a fan of the points split. I
think we should be doing
threeracesat 10 minseach
gettingmaximumpointsfor
each race.
While I am not super stoked
with my year we have had
some good moments and when
I think about the past couple of
years I am not exempt from the
rebuild process.
We are working hard and
making improvements every
week but there are no
shortcuts. I have been
spending time with the team

We are definitely seeing
results from this but there are
a few areas I still don’t quite
have right like my starts.
I am asked constantly about
what keeps me going and
coming back; for me it’s the
everyday grind and the
travelling. I wish we were
more like Moto GP and got to
travel the world.
I have been travelling since
Iwas 11 years old and love it.
The thought of not doing it
freaks me out. This could
possibly be my last year and it
scares me to say that. We will
see and time will tell. I would
love to come back for one
more year and get the chance
to say goodbye and thank you
but who knows let’s just take
it round by round for now.
