The Eyes
Eyes are a lot of fun to draw; they can tell the
viewer a lot about the person or character
you are drawing. The basic shape for an eye
follows the spherical shape of the eyeball
and one has to be careful not to draw them
generically and flat. Even though the eyes sit
in the sockets of the skull, there is still part of a
sphere protruding from the face, so you need
to think “spherical” when drawing both the
eyeball and the eyelids wrapping over them.

When rendering an eye, it is important to
remember that as it’s a spherical object, there
will be darker shadow at the corners. Take
note of the structural drawings in Fig.08, and
notice how the render lines are following the
pull of skin and wrapping around the eyes.

When drawing eyebrows as well, remember they
too are not flat. Eyebrows wrap around the brow
of the skull, again, always keep that skull in mind.
It is important to consider how these features
interact with the structures of the head and skull.
