ow in their 10th year, holiday organisers, Matt and Gill

Clark, run all-inclusive residential painting holidays to

seven destinations in England and abroad, priding

themselves on delivering “The first and best choice in a painting

holiday”. Venues in 2017 include Somerset, Exmoor and North

Devon, North Cornwall, the Wye Valley, the Lake District, the

Western Algarve in Portugal and Provence in France. All the

painting destinations are thoroughly researched, with care given

to painting locations so that there is plenty of subject choice,

suitability of terrain and places to eat. The hotels are carefully

chosen to provide comfortable and characterful

accommodation –all of which is en suite. Matt or Gill go on all

the holidays, and work hard to ensure everything runs smoothly.

They will bring tea, coffee and water to your easel while you

work, for example, and even look after your equipment while you

are at lunch so that you don’t need to pack up at the end of the

morning. In this way, the tutor is free to devote all his or her time

to teaching without worrying about anything else. New courses to

look out for this year include sketching and walking courses with

Barry Herniman in Exmoor and David Webb in Cornwall. Full

details are on the website. The wide choice of tutors are carefully

chosen, not just for their painting skills, but for their tutoring

skills too, ensuring they are suitable for painters of varying

abilities, including complete beginners. Many of them will be

familiar to Leisure Painterreaders, such as David Bellamy, Terry

Harrison, Jenny Keal and David Webb. A visit to the lively website

will provide full information on all the tutors, with videos where

possible so you can watch the artists in action.
