In Dark Corners
Radio 4, 11am
When Alex Renton, son of the
politician Tim, attended
Ashdown House, a prep
school in East Sussex, he was
sexually abused by a teacher
who was never charged or
even sacked (the teacher
died ten years ago, a free
man). The impact of his
terrible experiences has
inevitably remained with him
and his inquiries have not
finished. When Renton, right,
wrote a 2017 book about his
experiences, many formerboarding school pupils shared
their stories of abuse. This is
something he explores here,
while putting his former
schools Ashdown House and
Eton under the spotlight.
