Everything you do in the Basic panel affects the entire
image. If you drag the Temp slider, it changes the white
balance for the entire image (it’s a “global adjustment”).
But what if you want to adjust one particular area
of your image (a “local” adjustment)? Then you’d use
the Adjustment Brush, which lets you paint chang-
es just where you want them, so you can do things
like dodging and burning (lightening and darkening
different parts of your photo).
