Yacht:Columbia
Length: 43m
Year: 2014
Location: Antigua

Haveyouhadachancetocruisemuchrecently?
Not much. We had a great time at the America’s Cup in Bermuda,
and then spent the rest of the summer in the New England area.
WewerepinnedtothedockinConnecticutduetothehurricanes
in late summer/early fall. The crew had an interesting delivery
from Connecticut to Florida, between two storms, and they were
amazed by how wellColumbiahandled. Upon arrival, we used the

Withariglikethat,isshehardtohandle?
Columbiadefinitelyneedsafewcrewwhoareexperienced
sailors, but you can get away with three to four on watch on
delivery. The traditional rig demands human power but it’s helped

Why are you selling her? And what’s next?
Currently there are twoColumbias:Columbia I,whichis
complete, andColumbia II, which is in four modules at Eastern
Shipbuilding Group Inc’s yard.Columbia Iis for sale for someone
who wants the yacht right away. She’s also available to inspect
for those interested inColumbia II.Columbia IIdoesn’t have any
interior components at the moment, but construction can be
completed in a 12-month time period. It’s available for those
who’d like to create their own interior design. If we sellColumbia I
we’ll complete the secondColumbiafor ourselves
What are you most looking forward to this season?
We’re very excited to go to the Gloucester Schooner Festival this
year because the originalColumbia’s ra c ing ri va l,Bluenose, willbe
there.Bluenosewill not officially race, but will sail the racecourse.
It will almost be like recreating the International Fisherman’s Cup.
We can’t miss that
What makes these events so much fun?
Sailing and fishing schooners are important to Gloucester, not to
mention the originalColumbia. The festival really brings together
people who appreciateColumbiafor her sailing ability, and her
historicalsignificance.Alsothey’reagreatgroupofpeopleto
race with, and have a few drinks with afterwards. We very much
enjoy regattas in Nova Scotia, Canada, for the same reasons. Next
year we’ll start looking at entering some regattas in Europe
