DO MORE WITH YOUR PHOTOS

G

uided mode is one of the strongest features in
Photoshop Elements because it guides you, step
by step, through some of the tools you’ll need to
master in order to progress from a beginner to an
image-editing expert. It fills the gap between novice and
expert, and as you learn to create the different Guided image
projects, you’ll pick up key image-editing skills in a friendly,
painless environment..
In Elements 14, though, Adobe redesigned the interface for
the Guided mode. But although it looks very different at first,
as soon as you’ve selected the Guided process you want to
use, it reverts to the ‘old’ layout, with your image displayed in
the main window and a set of simple step by step processed
displayed and explained in a panel on the right.
First, though, that opening Guided screen. Now, Guided
edits are sorted into categories, which you can see in a menu
bar at the top of the window. They are: Basics, Color, Black &
White, Fun Edits, Special Edits and Photomerge.
You pick the category you’re interested in, and Elements
displays the choices in the main window below. You click on
a choice, and the familiar Guided Edit window opens up.

Guided Edits

The Guided mode is a great

way to learn new skills, and in

Elements 14 it has a new look

and four new options

Try this Speed Effect
The Speed Effect works especially well with
subjects caught in the middle of some dynamic
movement. You start by selecting the areas you want to
add some motion blur to, choose the degree of blur and
then protect the areas you want to keep sharp.

Resize your photos
The new Resize Your Photo guide aims to demystify
the resizing process by splitting output options into
Web images, where pixel dimensions are all you need
to worry about, and Print, where you need to work with
print dimensions in inches or centimetres instead.
