Allen Endurance Series launched in appeal to trapezing classes

A new series combining three

long-distance endurance events

has been announced by Allen

Brothers, comprising the Solent

Forts Race (2-3 June), East Coast

Piers Race (7-8 July) and the

Round Sheppey (9 September).

Competitors can register

for the series as well as for

each event using the SailRacer

website. Combining registration

fortheseriesatthesametime

as all three events will entitle

the entrant to a discount.

At each of the three events,

the winning crew will receive

an Allen voucher worth £100,

andattheendofalltheevents,

prizes will be awarded: first prize,

£500 Allen voucher; second

prize, £200 Allen voucher; and

third prize, £100 Allen voucher

(retail including VAT).

Therewillalsobeavarietyof

special prize categories such as

TopClass,TopClub,Youthand

Junior, Masters, Ladies and Top

Speeds.Bytheverynatureof

endurance racing, competitors are

expected to include skiffs, foilers

andfastcatamarans,withmost

boats being trapezing classes.

will open in the spring via the

Sailing clubs and schools are being

urged to back Queen Mary SC’s Plastic

Bottle Boat Challenge, aiming to help

raise awareness about plastic pollution.

The challenge has been launched by

the London club with support from

Heathrow Community Fund, and aims

to break the Guinness World Records

for the most plastic bottle boats

launched at once, while connecting

children and young people with their

environment and inspiring the next

generation of ‘ocean guardians’.

Working with RYA OnBoard, the 1851

Trust and the Volvo Ocean Race, the

challenge on 27 June will educate

children about plastic and allow sailing

clubs to engage with children about the

sport. Parents and clubs are being

asked to spread the word to encourage

schools to sign up via the website:
