No absolutely not. Perini will continue to conjure up the kind
of chemistry devised long ago whereby the yard’s represent-
atives, the owner and designer all blend harmoniously. When
the interior designer is a person the owner selected it is no
problem at all, it happens more and more often, he’s obviously
a professional the owner trusts.
We’ve talked about new projects, starting
from around 25 metres. Are you then think-
ing about a new entry level?
This is something new but was already envisaged prior to my arrival:
a 25 metre motor yacht which will be registered as a vessel measur-
ing under 24 metres.We’re talking about a really special model which

us the concept for entry levels varies between 40 – 45 metres. For
example we’ve currently got a signed letter of intent for a 42 metre

a Perini which is looking ahead in terms of styling, cleanliness of the
lines, and in house state of the art technology. There’s also, on the
limit of the entry level, a 45 metre expedition motor yacht we’re
doing with Bernardo Zuccon drawing on Gerhard Gilgenast’s style,
who had in fact worked very successfully with Picchiotti.

That adds up to five units. But what’s your
target?

pened was twelve years ago. My target is to reach eight in twelve
months, which would bring the company to the middle of next year
with about 100 million euro in sales. One has to grow gradually. No
good getting stuck in the mud, because yachting can die of excess as
well and not only through lack of work.as close as possible to the sea.The head of our technical and design
department Franco Romani was instrumental in this and readily gave
me all the answers I was looking for. Obviously because they were
already on his mind. Instead as far as the engine is concerned, we’re
working with several important architects with whom we share an
intense personal relationship like Briand, Zuccon, and more.The idea
is to come up with something strong, but with extended blue water
cruising always in mind. Because you see, Perini ships even if it sounds
peculiar really sail and they also go very far. For example, I’ve recently
received pictures taken of some of our yachts currently sailing Aus-
tralian waters. I wish to refer to the explorer as this is the yacht with
which to cruise the world.
