BY THE MAXIMUM PC STAFF
As you read through our
scintillating collection of
upgrades, tweaks, hacks,
and projects, please keep
this in mind: Sometimes
a man has to take matters
into his own hands in order
to prove himself.
As we drew up this dar-
ing blend of practicality,
functionality, and risk-taking
grabs for power, Maximum
PC’s lab experts found
themselves engaged in a
marvelous but scary contest
of derring-do and techni-
cal brinkmanship. The high
point? Technical editor Will
Smith’s infamous Project
32: How to turn your PC
into a time travel device
by using a 16MB USB key.
Unfortunately, moments
after proving that it could
be done, Will was but a
memory. We never heard
from the poor guy again,
but after digging 140 yards
below the Maximum PC
offices, we did excavate
a 12,000-year-old pair of
shattered eyeglasses and a
single suede slip-on loafer.
But that’s enough mourn-
ing—let’s get on with the
projects! (Oh, and if you’re
looking for Will Smith’s
Project 32—don’t bother.
The government confiscat-
ed the technology.)
