t is no secret that I love Blue Wrens!
In fact I don’t think I have ever come
across a person who doesn’t like
these delicate little birds. I also have a
passion for Blue Hydrangea flowers,
so I thought the two would work really
well together in a painting! I didn’t
want to over crowd the tiny creatures
with giant blooms and so came the
idea of including the basket in the
painting. Many hours of sketching and
planning later and I had my design.
STEP 1
In order to not have to redraw
my basket, I have traced it from
my original design onto my full
sheet of 600g (cold pressed)
watercolour paper. Next I have
added some of the flowers and
finally the main bird characters.
