Lost Hare in the Snow: “I used
Farrow & Ball paint again. It
creates a lovely, soft light effect.“
Kit and Conker (pastel pencil
on pastel paper): “This was a
commission which I thoroughly
enjoyed. I met the dogs, took
a variety of photographs and
worked from those.“
Dark Stormy Skies (oil on
board): “I love cloud formations
and light breaking through. This
is another one of my paintings
that has lots and lots of layers of
paint to it and was influenced by
attending a painting course.“
Cornish Skies (Farrow & Ball
and acrylics): “This is my latest
and I loved painting this one –
it’s 3ft by 4ft. It‘s really liberating
painting on such a big canvas. It
was inspired by a recent painting
course I did at Newlyn Art
School in Cornwall. I spent three
days outdoors all day painting
and sketching. We were all
pushed well and truly out of
our comfort zones and it was
such a good experience!“
Emma describes her approach
to her paintings pictured here...
Winter Sheep: “I painted this
using Farrow & Ball test pots. I
love the chalkiness of the paint.“
Lara and Lottie (charcoal on
paper): “Capturing memories
of a fun day. My seven-year-
old daughter was showing my
mother’s Dexter calf – it was
no bigger than a Labrador – at
Romsey Show.“
Sunset in Norfolk (oil on
board): “I went on a short course
at The Norfolk Painting School
- a wonderful place where you
can learn the Old Masters’
techniques. To create the
sunlight effect, I applied about
eight layers of paint.“
Blue Cow (acrylics on canvas):
“This was a lovely friendly cow
that was in the field opposite
our house when we lived in
Hampshire. He just always
seemed curious and happy.
I wanted to create a more
contemporary effect, slightly
pop-art in style.“
I’m mad
on my hares
and they seem
to crop up in
a lot of my
pictures.
There’s
something so
mysterious
about them.
