computer to create it for me.
Instead, I use it as a tool that
allows me to create the image
in a clean, graphic style.
“I draw everything from
scratch, I create the hundreds
of shapes (paths) and then layer
them one on top of the other
which forms the picture. So it
really is a work of art and the
computer is the tool that allows
me to do it.
“Technically there is no
original as it is created as a
digital file. I do, however, treat
each picture as an original piece
of artwork, rather than seeing it
as a digital one.”
For new artists, Becky has
some digital advice: “Embrace
social media. Network and put
yourself out there on Facebook,
Twitter, Instagram, etc – no
one will see what you are doing
unless you show them, nothing
will happen or come to you
unless you put yourself and your
work out there in front of people.
And for those who are
exploring their creative style:
“Be true to yourself. To start
with, experiment with different
styles and things that you like,
it is a journey and each stage is
wonderful and will lead on to
something else. It will constantly
change, so go with it. Be positive,
believe in yourself and where you
want to go. Don‘t hold yourself
back – dream big!”
Becky‘s fresh, vintage
posters invite us to
daydream of idyllic
seaside villages and
beaches, a time before
the rush and gadgets
of the modern world...
