I havea problemwithmyinternetconnectionthatI
reallyhopeyoucanhelpmewith.I havemyhome
wi-fisetup,andtherouteris workingfine(I haveno
problemsonotherdevices),butI cannotgetonline
withmyWindows8 PC.I getanerror messagethat
seemsto stopmeconnecting,andI'mnotsure what
to try.

adapterwi-fi'andcheckthattheentry Ipv4Address
hasa value.If it does,andif youalsohaveDNSand
gatewayinfo,yourrouteris doingitsjobandyou
havea connection,meaningyourbrowserorother
softwareis theproblem,notyourconnectionor
wi-fihardware.If youdon'thaveanaddress,the
problemmayliewithyourwi-fihardwareorsetup.
You couldsimplydothelaststeptocheckboth
routerandIP, butit'sgoodtoensureyoucangetto
yourrouter'ssetupregardless.
Next,try disablingwi-fiandusinga wired
connection.Thiswillruleoutanyproblemswith
wi-fiandis a greatwaytocheckforsoftware-
relatedproblems.If youstillcan'tgetonline,it's
highlylikelysoftwareormalwareis theproblem.
