Don’t let her retro allure fool you – Project 697 is every
inch the modern superyacht. Recently launched by
Feadship, this 47m tri-deck yacht was penned by
De Voogt Naval Architects in the style of the yard ’s
1990syachtssuchas Aurora B (pictured below). With the benefit
of 25 years of technological advances at its disposal, Feadship
created a subtly curved sheerline topped with lacquered teak
handrails – a feature that is “staging a comeback ”, according to
the Dutch yard. Other details that show off the craftsmen’s skills
include the cambered teak decking and the grilles on the mast and
foredeck, which were milled from the same section of metal as the
underlying superstructure.
