team of Van Peteghem (above) and Ptgh
Lauriot-Prévost (top), and their fi rm
VPLP, is known for design innova-
tions that have made the company
a world leader in multihulls. VPLP
cats hold the Round the World record
(40-plus days), won the America’s
Cup in 2010, and set a world sailing
record of 51 knots in 2009. VPLP is
the principal designer for Lagoon,
which has produced more than 2,000
catamarans. And, while it may not
have been VPLP’s fastest design, the
company also created Kevin Costner’s
sci-fi trimaran for the 1995
fi lm Waterworld.
