Please find attached an old

advert for MBY that I chanced

across in my extensive motor boat library.

It’s a little tongue in cheek for nowadays

but the man looks a bit like me and I’d gladly

pay three shillings for my next issue. Can’t

see any room for you, Jack et al in the boat

but one thing’s for sure – your claims still

hold good today! Hope it raises a smile.

I’m wondering what will happen after Brexit

if I want to buy a secondhand motor boat

from a European country. The boat will

already be VAT paid, but then will I have to

pay VAT again on importing it into the UK?

As far as I’m aware, both parties are still

some way off agreeing the basics of what

import tariffs and taxes will apply. We can

only hope that common sense wins over

and a deal is done to respect each other’s

VAT-paid status. Hugo
