Clean2Gleam cleaning products
There’s a specialist
Clean2Gleam product for
every part of your boat
The new range of Clean2Gleam
cleaning products has been developed
specifically for boat use, rather than
simply being the automotive products
most of us use. Clean2Gleam is
actually a ‘hands-on’ marine-valeting
company (as well as aircraft and
vehicles) and the new range came
about when CEO Gary Winter became
frustrated at what he describes
as the limited range of products
on the market. So he took what he
considered to be the top ten cleaning
products from around the world to
various chemists in the UK and asked
for them to be bettered.
The result is four exterior cleaning
solutions and three for the interior.
Boat Wash is your basic squirt into
a bucket of water and shampoo,
but it’s claimed to be gentle on
gelcoats as well as effective in use –
it’s also environmentally friendly and
biodegradable. There’s a carnauba
wax which is a hard-paste wax,
while Boat Polish is a polymer and
carnauba-based polish which restores
gelcoat finishes. A product specifically
for RIBs and tenders simply called
RIB Cleaner is ideal for fenders,
buoys, PVC tubing, materials such as
Seven-strong nautical
range launched
Hypalon, vinyl covers and any non-
slip surfaces.
For the inside, there is an all-
purpose cleaner that can even be
used on upholstery and carpets and
a glass cleaner which, importantly
for the marine environment, can
be used on plexiglass and plastic
windows, as well as normal glass.
Finally, there is a deodoriser that
eradicates bacteria, as well as bad
smells. All are available online, along
with a range of sponges and
microfibre cloths. There’s even a
special product bag with everything
in, which would make a pretty good
birthday present. Prices start at £7.

Ocean Safety Kru
Sport Pro lifejacket
It’s easy to think a lifejacket is just
a lifejacket; that they’re all the
same. But in fact, a huge amount of
research and development goes into
ensuring that you’ll wear them and
that they will work effectively if they
are needed, so it’s worth exploring
exactly what is new about this latest
lifejacket from Ocean Safety.
Addressing that first point,
ergonomic shaping of the new
Kru Sport Pro means it should be
comfortable to wear for long periods.
One new design improvement is
a much lower-profile scoop-neck
design, which sits away from the neck
to increase movement and comfort.
The front waistcoat-style zip means
it’s easy to put on and the side waist
adjusters are quick for a secure fit.
Another neat feature is a new utility
belt loop that enables a handheld VHF
radio to be clipped on.
But arguably even more important
is what happens when it’s deployed.
An interlock bladder with ‘wave barrier
technology’ delivers super-fast turning
speeds and keeps the wearer’s airway
free from channelled water, reducing
the risk of secondary drowning. It’s
designed to be simple to fold too –
handy for mid-season checking or
repacking after deployment. The
jacket is also AIS ready, so a personal
tracking system can be fitted (the
best lifejacket in the world is of limited
use if the wearer can’t be found).
There’s also an ADV model which
adds a lifejacket light, sprayhood and
UML Pro Sensor Elite operating head
(which indicates a faulty CO^2 inflation
cylinder or its incorrect fitment). Kill
cord loops on both models mean you
have something to hook your engine-
kill lanyard to. Price from £124.96.
