N

ow that our summer season
is well progressed, it’s time
to reflect on some of the
outstanding efforts achieved by
our juniors over recent months.
In Queensland, Emmi Roberts from
Weipa continues her great year by tagging
numerous queenfish. Further south, Bryce
Bartleson from the Sunshine Coast GFC
has already tagged five black marlin. On
the Gold Coast, Ryan Thomsen had tagged
two black marlin by early February, while
Riley Dunbar from the Surfers Paradise
Club tagged a blue marlin estimated to
weigh 108kg on 37kg tackle.
New South Wales has also seen lots
of action and some outstanding efforts.
From the Shellharbour GFC, Amanda
Lamond tagged and released a striped
marlin estimated at 130kg on 10kg tackle

  • what an excellent catch.
Oska Davis from the Central Coast
GFC landed a tiger shark of 104.5kg on
15kg line class, while at Port Macquarie,
Zachary Danby landed a blue marlin

weighing 146.4kg on 37kg tackle. Well
done to you both.
In Victoria, the Sandy boys enjoyed
time at Wilson’s Promontory where they
tagged 13 yellowtail kingfish over a
week. Good fishing, boys. And down in
South Australia, Nicholas Rippin from the
Adelaide GFC tagged a nice gummy shark
on 15kg tackle.
In Western Australia the usual team of
Chloe and Jessica Hornhardt have been
hard at it tagging and also measure-&-
releasing numerous species of fish. In our
last report, young Max Grasso had been
rewriting the record book over in north-
western Australia, and his form continues
with numerous captures on ultra-light
tackle, including broad-barred mackerel
and golden trevally.
It’s also great to see some tags coming
in from the Northern Territory. After years
of seeing numerous National and State
winners from the top end, it is pleasing
to see more results now coming through.
