eventeen boats participated in this year’s Beneteau
Owners’ Club Rally – a Poker Run that culminated at
Waiheke Island’s Man-O-War winery.
Hosted for the second year by 36 Degrees Brokers,
Family Boats and PIC Insurance Brokers, the rally enjoyed perfect
cruising conditions.
After a leisurely arrival and swim ashore, around 60 people
joined in the afternoon’s activities – wine-tasting, nibbles and
the much-anticipated poker game. Participants were required
to deliver poker cards at certain waypoints en route to Waiheke
Island, which were later used to bid for prizes at the winery.
“This is what the club is all about. Not only are Beneteau
owners getting together and sharing the joy of owning one of
these vessels, they’re also introducing friends and family to the
world of cruising and opening up the Beneteau community in New
Zealand,” says 36 Degrees manager Raynor Haagh.COOL PRIZE

ellington sailors dominated the prizes at the recent
Zephyr Nationals held at Worser Bay.
Greg Wright won overall, with defending
champion Phil Williams nabbing the trophy for the
65 to 69-year old category. Emma Berry won the women’s and
Dean Stanley won on handicap.
Auckland sailors Kelcey Gager was second and Tim Snedden
third overall while Craig Moss won the heavyweight division.
The Zephyr is one of New Zealand’s oldest single-handed
sailing dinghy classes. The 2019 Nationals will be held at the
Tauranga Yacht and Boating Club next February.ZEPHYR WINNERS
