FIRST FEMALE MONSTER JAM DRIVER
Debrah Miceli, from Florida, USA, became the first ever female
driver in a Monster Jam competition in 1999. The name of her
truck is Madusa, a moniker that doubles as one of Debrah’s
nicknames. She’s also known as the “Queen of Carnage”.
Five years later, Debrah became the first female
Monster Jam World Finals champion. She shared
in a three-way tie for the Freestyle contest held
in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, in Mar 2004.
First monster truck
Bigfoot #1, a modified Ford F-250 pick-up truck
standing on 48-in-tall (1.21-m) tyres, was built
by Bob Chandler in St Louis, Missouri, USA, in
the mid-1970s. Bigfoot made its initial public
appearance in 1979, introducing the concept
of the “monster truck” for the first time.

Cam McQueen (CAN) successfully performed
a reverse flip at the Jacksonville Monster Jam
in Jacksonville, Florida, USA, on 27 Feb 2010.
Monster Jam is a live motorsport event tour
series whose season runs from January to
March. It is sanctioned by the United States Hot
Rod Association, with the Monster Jam World
Finals held each year in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

USA’s Mark Hall reached a speed of 159.49 km/h

15 Dec 2014. The feat took place at the Circuit
of the Americas in Austin, Texas, USA.

On 17 Mar 2012, Randy Moore of Tennessee, USA,
covered a quarter mile (402 m) from a standing
start in 13.175 sec in War Wizard. His top speed
was 96.8 mph (155.8 km/h). The venue was the
zMAX Dragway in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA.

Freestyle Championship
In 2003, Jim Koehler (USA) won the
Monster Jam World Finals freestyle title
in Avenger. Eight years later, in 2011, he
repeated the feat. Koehler’s achievement
was then equalled by Adam Anderson (USA,
b. 5 Dec 1985), driving Taz in 2008 and
Grave Digger in 2 016.
Anderson’s 2008 victory also saw
him become the youngest driver to
win a Monster Jam World Finals
Championship, aged just 22.

Joe Sylvester (USA)
jumped a distance
of 72.42 m (237 ft
7 in) in the 10,000-lb
(4,535-kg) Bad Habit
in Columbus, Pennsylvania, USA, on 1 Sep 2013.
When Sylvester hit the ramp, he was travelling
at around 85 mph (136.7 km/h). “The level of
risk is about as high as you can go in a monster
truck,” he admitted candidly afterwards. “If you
crash at that speed and from that height it’s
pretty devastating.”

Black Stallion, driven by Michael Vaters
of Hagerstown, Maryland, USA, jumped a
distance of 70 ft (21.3 m) – the length of two
London buses – in reverse gear in Indianapolis,
Indiana, USA, in 2002.

Tom Meents (USA) leaped over six Monster Jam
monster trucks in Maximum Destruction at the
MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey,
USA, on 23 Apr 2016.

Tom Meents (USA), who currently drives
Maximum Destruction, has won a total of
11 Monster Jam World Finals (in Racing
and Freestyle) since records began in 1999.
Monster truck national championships
As of the end of 2016, Mark Hall (USA) had
won 25 national monster truck competitions
- more than any other driver. His wins
comprise 12 monster truck thunder drags,
six nationals racing, five nationals freestyle
and two monster truck nationals.
