Suggested Questions for Further Discussion/Thought

  1. Why is hell such an important concept to some Christians?

  2. What do our beliefs about hell say about our theology, or picture, of God?

  3. Most Christians believe in a dualistic afterlife (heaven and hell). Yet a
fi ery place of torment is in contrast to the idea of Sheol as found in most
of the Old Testament. Still, Jesus clearly believes in a fi ery hell. Is this a
doctrine that “evolved” from the Old Testament to the New Testament?
How do you reconcile two contrasting doctrines if both have biblical
    support?
