Move Time

to your body. Your body is not the enemy. And neither
is food.”

STEP 2: TRADE

We often think of nutrition as dieting, restricting ourselves
from foods we like, and only eating weird things we can’t
pronounce. But God made a whole world of delicious
things to eat. Trade a burger for a high- quality chicken
sandwich. Trade out a bag of candy for gum. Trade out a
Snickers for a chocolate- chip granola bar.
There are so many good options that are also helpful
for our bodies. Take the time to swap out one food each
week. You’ll be amazed at how you can seamlessly eliminate
a fatty, sugary, energy- draining food for a healthy snack
without actually sacrificing the entertainment value. Chili
is a good example of a win- win food (assuming you like
chili, which I do). Hummus is another good one. My favor-
ite burger place offers a lettuce- wrapped burger that I truly
enjoy every bit as much as the one with bread. It’s an easy
trade, but I probably would forget about it if I didn’t keep
a list on my phone of my favorite healthy options at dif-
ferent restaurants. As we identify foods that are good for
both entertainment and energy, healthy eating becomes
our new norm.

STEP 3: TRY

After you’ve built the habit of tracking what you eat and
trading out a few entertainment foods for energy foods, it’s
time to try a challenge.
