Do Our Mornings Matter?
33
But the wonder and hope of Christ go far beyond our
rescuing and saving. Following Jesus means we can be used,
through Him, to be world changers, life givers, and relation-
ship restorers. Not in our own power or for our own glory, but
in Him, through Him, and by Him we get to be a part of the
greatest stories ever told.
You have everything you need. Now is the time to start.
He is waiting for you to rise up. He’ll do all the miracle stuff;
He just asks that you hope and follow and speak His words to
the valley.
Musical Montage
My favorite part of almost every movie is what I call the
musical montage. It usually starts with the main character
realizing the need for change and taking drastic action.
The alarm clock rings at o’dark- thirty. Heart- thumping
theme music pounds as the character bolts out of bed, drinks
raw eggs, and runs a bajillion miles in the dark wearing a styl-
ish hoodie, greeting the sunrise in a triumphant mountaintop
moment.
I don’t know about you, but there is nothing in me that
naturally wants to wake up at o’dark- thirty, drink raw eggs,
or run a bajillion (or any) miles.
So why do those characters do it?
Because they have decided that who they are becoming is
more important than what they have to do to get there. They
realize that their capacity, time, willpower, and focus are the
strongest first thing in the day, before all the craziness of life
invades.
Let’s be honest, I still have less- than- stellar days sometimes,
