Just when you thought yoga couldn’t get any weirder. In Sydney, Studio Kink is now
offering classes designed for “preparing body and mind prior to BDSM practice”.
Classes are led by two yogis (Suzie and David) who have been involved with the city’s
kink community for years. The practice focuses on warming up the shoulders, back and
legs, as well as offering mindful breath and body practices “to help ride sensations that
may arise” during a BDSM session. It takes the idea of partner yoga to a whole new
level. Students bring their own mat and can wear anything from casual yoga wear to
fetish gear. Oh, and ropes and restraints are available and provided free of charge.
Billionaire baby
Former model Tatiana Korsakova, the wife of billionaire banker Andrey Borodin, ex-
president of The Bank of Moscow, is out to conquer the yoga market. She spoke to
Vogue recently about her athleisure brand, Vaara, at her plush wellness retreat in the
Maldives. The press launch itself was billionaire-scale, with journalists attending a mini
conference of wellness experts at the luxury resort in the Indian Ocean. The couple,
who are now based in the UK, fled Russia under a cloud in 2010, and settled in Henley,
in what is said to be the most expensive home ever purchased in England (reportedly
£140 million). Luckily, a pair of Vaara leggings will only set you back £80.
