YOGA FOR BEGINNERS
Mindful Body Meditation
This meditation is great for tuning in to the body and its
needs. This is a great complement to your physical yoga
practice and helps unite the mind and the body.
Follow these steps to practice the Mindful Body meditation:
- Start in Easy pose or any other comfortable seated position.
- Close your eyes and relax your shoulders.
- Start to bring your attention to the breath. Become aware
of all the intricacies of the inhale and the exhale. - Whenever the mind wanders, come back to the breath. Do
this for a couple of minutes. - Shift your awareness to your body. This will be your point
of focus, so anytime your mind wanders, come back to
the body. - Scan your body from the top and move your way down.
Take time at each step to really tune in to the subtle move-
ments and feelings in each body part. - Observe the scalp and the top of your head. What are
you feeling? Is your hair pulling on the skin of your scalp?
Is it heavy? - Check what’s happening with your forehead? Is it
scrunched in or relaxed? Is the skin around your eyes heavy?
