Cryo therapy
Yoga instructors Melissa Okabe and Kalina
Salvador paired up recently with Beach
Cities Cryo to offer an ice cool yoga and
cryo therapy event in the South Bay area
of Los Angeles recently. Cryo therapy is the
use of low temperatures for therapeutic
use. Beach Cities Cryo’s clients include
former athletes, while its therapies range
from cold, heat and compression through
to massage therapy – all with the general
goal of improving overall quality of life
and easing pain and tension. Salvador
described it as one super cool event –
literally. “I use cryo therapy as a way to
help relieve pain in my joints caused by
arthritis,” she said.By royal appointment
With royal wedding fever dissipating
(although it was such a lovely day at
Windsor!), it has emerged that yoga
played a part in bringing the royals
closer together with the new members
of their family. Meghan Markle’s mother,
Doria Ragland, is a yoga instructor.
She shared tea with the queen in the
run up to the big day, and, according
to reports, it was a shared love of yoga
and art that helped bond Markle (now
the Duchess of Sussex) with her new
father-in-law Prince Charles. The heir to
the throne has long been an advocate
of all things alternative healing and

Former Arsenal soccer ace Per
Mertesacker admits only a few
players used to turn up for yoga
during his playing days. Still, the
German credits his fitness with the
introduction of yoga at the club, along
with a passion for alternative healing.
In his autobiography, he says he
invested much of his salary on holistic
therapies. “I wouldn’t have been able
to play for a top club for seven years...
without these additional therapies,”
he says, in a book excerpt in The
Guardian. “I was a big fan of yoga from
the beginning because I had seen that
it improved stability and flexibility.”UK
