OM Magazine

Issue 93, February 2019

Welcome to the February issue of OM magazine,
Britain’s best-loved newsstand yoga monthly.
Inside, we’ve got everything you need to keep
your practice fresh and alive, both on and off
the mat.
That includes an exploration of all things yin
yoga. This gentle style – a slow and subtle form
of yoga, holding postures for a little longer – has
become incredibly popular in studios nationwide in recent times. And for
good reason too: it offers a brief respite from the chaotic, often abrasive
world outside; a space for cultivating calm and for restoring the body
back to its natural, default settings.
We’ve also got sequences and tutorials to keep you inspired on the
mat, plus the next instalment of 360 ̊ Yoga, our anatomy academy, with
expert Dr Kiki Morriss (this time looking at tortoise pose, or kumasana).
And, in the run-up to an important conference taking place in London
this month (see page 50 for details), we look at the link between yoga
and the National Heath Service (NHS). With an ageing population and
health budgets under pressure, more people are looking at alternatives
to stay well for longer. Potentially, it could see yoga play a more
prominent role in the nation’s healthcare plans.
There are lots of other goodies inside this month’s issue too –
meditation, spiritual insight, life hacks, healthy recipes, great travel ideas

  • plus some fantastic yoga teacher profiles: check out the remarkable
Sadie Nardini (page 34) and Max Strom (page 54).
If it’s yoga you’re after, you’re in the right place. Get inspired with OM.
