Atlantic Airways has taken delivery of its first A320neo, serial 8918,
on lease from Air Lease (US). The aircraft is powered by LEAP‑1A
engines and is configured in an all‑economy cabin layout.

Atlas Air [5Y/GTI] [US] and Polar Air Cargo Worldwide (US) say that
the US Court of Appeals has affirmed a federal district court ruling that
ordered unions to stop an intentional and illegal work slowdown by
Atlas pilots.

AtlasGlobal and Air Serbia have expanded their codeshare
partnership, covering additional Air Serbia services via Belgrade. The
new codeshare routes include the following:

  • Belgrade – Berlin Tegel, Belgrade – Kiev Borispil, Belgrade – Sofia,
    Belgrade – Zurich


Austrian Airlines [OS/AUA] [Austria] has now secured six additional
A320s, with the first of them scheduled for delivery in August 2019.
Four are on lease from Aviation Capital Group (US) and two were
purchased from CDB Aviation (Ireland). A total of 10 additional jets are
to replace the 18 Q400s by 2021. Austrian will thus increase its Airbus
fleet from 36 to 46 aircraft.
The airline is to close six regional crew bases to centralise aircraft
operations in Vienna to help reduce crew travel costs.

Avianca [AV/AVA] [Colombia] suspended the direct route from El
Salvador to Medellin from 01Aug19.
Avianca Holdings is renegotiating debts with its creditors, which
would add about US$7.0 billion. Operating margins may increase in
2019 and reach 10% by 2020.
Avianca Holdings announced that under its “Avianca 2021”
strategy, the new management of the company is rapidly advancing in
the execution of a plan to strengthen the company’s competitiveness
and implement necessary financial adjustments.
The airline ended E190 operations on 30Jun19; its last E190 was
serial 19000399.
Avianca Holdings’ majority shareholder German Efromovich will
take legal action against United Airlines (US) after losing management
control of the South American airline. He called it a “prepared ambush”.

Avianca Brasil [O6/ONE] [Brazil] slots will be now be redistributed by
ANAC (Brazil), following a ruling by a judge authorising the action.

Avinter [Uruguay] plans to begin operations by November 2019,
flying international and domestic routes as the national flag carrier.
The airline is backed by up to US$100 million in foreign capital and the
fleet will include the acquisition of eight used aircraft.

Avion Express [Lithuania] demonstrated an over 5% year‑on‑year
growth in productivity in 1H19. The company flew almost 23,000 block
hours in the period. This summer it is operating 22 Airbus A320 family
aircraft.
Avion Express has established a Maltese subsidiary, ACH Airlinem
which has received AOC and A320 9H‑AMA (1005).

Avior Airlines [Venezuela] opened the route linking the cities of
Caracas and Santo Domingo.

Anguilla Aviation [Anguilla] has added BN Trilander VP‑AJR (1055)
operating Anguilla to St Barthelemy & Sint Maarten.


Arctic Airlines’ [Russia] project has been postponed indefinitely, says
the head of the regional government, due to pushback on management
and fleet choices.


Argenjet Aviation [Argentina] has obtained authorisation to operate
domestic and international non‑scheduled cargo services using large
aircraft. Further certification is needed before flights can begin.


Arkia [Israel] is planning to lay off 250 out of its 650 employees after
the closure of Tel Aviv’s Sde Dov Airport.


Arktika Airlines [Russia] was recently formed by the air groups of the
Arkhangelsk and Naryan‑Mar regional governments, who will operate
three SSJ100s while upgrading their existing L410s. The consultation
phase is still ongoing.


Armenia Airways [Armenia] is launched its inaugural regular flights
with Yerevan to Tehran on 15Jun19, with a BAe 146‑300.


Aruba Airlines [Aruba] was denied permission by the Aruba
government to operate flights to Venezuela over immigration issues.
The future of the airline is in jeopardy as a result. Aruba Airlines
announced that it was resume its route Valencia to Oranjestad and
Miami from 28Jul19.


Asiana Airlines [OZ/AAR] [South Korea] – Kumho Asiana Group
(South Korea) planned to launch the bidding for Asiana Airlines in July

Asiana Airlines has adjusted additional long‑haul services for the
winter 2019/20 season, effective from 27Oct19. The planned changes
are as follows:



  • Seoul Incheon – Honolulu eff 27Oct19: 777‑200ER replaces A330‑
    300, 7 weekly

  • Seoul Incheon – London Heathrow eff 27Oct19: Reduce from 7 to
    5 weekly (Day x13), A350‑900XWB operating

  • Seoul Incheon – Paris CDG eff 27Oct19: A350‑900XWB continues
    to operate on 4 of 5 weekly flights

  • Seoul Incheon – Venice eff 27Oct19: Reduce from 3 to 2 weekly,
    777‑200ER operating


Asiana Airlines has filed initial operations for its new Airbus A321neo,
which was scheduled to enter service in early‑August 2019.
Configuration of the carrier’s new A321neo is C8Y180. Planned
operations, subject to change, are as follows:

Atlantic Airways [RC/FLI] [Faroe Islands] has been granted an
exemption and a foreign air carrier permit from US regulators to
permit it to engage in scheduled foreign air transportation between
Denmark and the US and beyond.
The airline has signed a Purchase Agreement with Airbus for two
A320neos, becoming the latest A320neo customer. The engine
selection will be made at a later date.
