Q
In issue 283, there’s
a photo from Debbie and
Kathryn Rowley in your Star
Letter. Have you any idea what
the name of that amazing
steam train kit is, please?
Stephanie Neil, via email
A
Katriel: This beautiful
steam train project is
called ‘Train to the Coast’,
and is a nostalgic design by
Tereena Clarke, based on the
artwork of Kevin Walsh. You
can buy a PDF instant-
download pattern with black
and white symbols from
Artecy Cross Stitch* for just
£8.21 (or, you can purchase
the printed and posted option
for £13.15). While it’s a
challenging size at approx.
41x54cm (16½x21½in), it uses
just whole stitches to create
this stunning scene in 70 DMC
colours, depicting two puffing
steam engines along with lots
of lovely vintage railway
details. I hope you enjoy
stitching this design as much
as our Star Letter winners did!

Gingerbread cottage search
Q
I was looking on Pinterest and saw an image of the 3D
gingerbread cottages from your magazine, but I can’t find
anything about where to buy a copy of the pattern. I know that
they are from the December 2015 issue of The World of Cross
Stitching. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Meredith Foster, via email
A
Hannah: You’re right, Meredith, we featured these
gingerbread cottages in issue 236 (December 2015) and
while the physical back issue is no longer available, you can still
buy the digital edition via our app for Android and Apple devices.
These perfectly formed cottages were designed by Rhona Norrie,
and they each have sweet little details that make them come to
life – it’s no wonder you’d like to stitch them! There’s a handy
step-by-step guide to making them up in the magazine too, so
you’ll build up your fun gingerbread village in no time. Gingerbread cottage searchThe charts for these 3D cottages are
