4 Referring to Diagram IV, join 1 red

tone-on-tone N, 2 white star O’s, and

2 blue cherry P’s to make section.

Make 16 sections total.

5 Join 2redtone-on-toneO’s,1 white

star O, and 1 blue cherry O as shown

in Diagram V to make unit 5. Make

4 unit 5’s total.

3 Join 4 yellow tone-on-tone K’s,
8 white solid L’s, 8 red star M’s,
4 unit 2’s, and white fl oral J into
3 rows as shown (Diagram III-A).
Sew rows together to complete
block Y. Make4 block Y’s total.

Similarly, join 4 yellow tone-on-

tone K’s, 8 white solid L’s, 8 blue

tone-on-tone M’s, 4 unit 3’s, and

blue fl ag J into 3 rows as shown in

Diagram III-B. Sew rows together to

complete block Z. Make 8 block Z’s

total.

Assembling the Quilt Top

NOTE: Refer to Assembly Diagram for

following steps, watching block place-

ment.

6 Sew together 2 block Z’s as shown.

Make 2. Matching centers and ends,

sew to both sides of center block. In

same manner, join 2 block Y’s and

2 blocks Z’s as shown. Make 2 and

sew to top and bottom of quilt center.

7 Refer to Borders in Quilt Basics. Join

white border 1 strips and cut to sizes

shown in Assembly Diagram. Match-

ing centers and ends, sew border 1

side strips to quilt; repeat to add top

and bottom strips. In similar manner,

add red star border 2.

8 Join 4 sections and 1 unit 5 as shown

to make pieced border 3. Make 4.

Matching centers and ends, join

2 pieced border 3 strips to sides of

quilt. Sew a unit 4 to each end of

remaining pieced border 3 strips. Join

to top and bottom of quilt.

9 Join blue fl oral border 4 strips and cut

to sizes shown in Assembly Diagram.

Matching centers and ends, sew

border 4 side strips to quilt; repeat to

add top and bottom strips.

Quilting and Finishing

10 Layer, baste, and quilt. Bnae

machine quilted fl owers over the quilt

surface. Bind the quilt.
