MORE STITCHES

DOUBLE TREBLE POINTS (1)
Work this edging back and forth in short
rows to make a strip that can be worked to
any length to fit the napkin.

Row 1 (RS) Using Soft Lime, ch5, 3dtr in first
ch, turn.
Row 2 (WS) Ch4, skip first dtr and ss in next
dtr, ch4, ss in top of beg ch-5, turn.
Repeat these two rows until the edging fits
the napkin, making sure that you have the
same number of repeats on each side.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Wet block, following our guide on page 131, to
help the edging lie flat. Leave to dry. Sew to
the napkin.

DOUBLE TREBLE PICOT (2)
Using Silver, work a foundation chain longer
than you need. As a guide, work a chain at
least the length of the napkin edges plus the
length of one of the sides.
As you work Row 1 of the edging, pin it
against the napkin edge, making sure you fit
the same number of pattern repeats to each
side. When you’re sure the edging is the right
length, undo the slipknot and any surplus
foundation chain. Secure the yarn.

In this pattern, work the ch-3 picot technique
as follows: ch3, ss in the first of those 3 ch.

Row 1 (WS) Dc in the 2nd ch from the hook
and in each ch until the length fits the napkin,
turn. You will need an even number of dc sts.
Row 2 (RS) Ch5 (counts as dtr, ch1), dtr in st
at the base of the 5-ch, ch-3 picot, skip 1 st,
*(dtr, ch1, dtr) in next st, ch-3 picot, skip 1 st;
repeat from * to end.
Fasten off leaving a long tail.

DOUBLE TREBLE
EDGINGS
Dress your dining table in chic, handmade style
with these napkin borders. By Cara Medus
Wet block as above, laying it out in a square
just as it will be on the napkin, so you can
shape the corners. Sew in place around the
napkin, using the finishing tail to join the end
to the 4th ch of the beg ch-5. Weave in ends.
DOUBLE TREBLE SHELL (3)
Using Soft Lime, work a foundation chain in
the same way as above.
Row 1 (RS) Dtr in 6th ch from the hook
(missed ch count as dtr, ch1). (Dtr in the
same st as the last dtr, ch1) 4 times, skip 5 ch,
dc in next ch, ch1, skip 5 ch, (Dtr, ch1) in next
st 5 times, skip 5 ch, dc in next ch, ch1, skip 5
ch; repeat from
until the edging fits around
the napkin.
Fasten off leaving a long tail, block (see page
131). Sew the edging in place on the napkin,
using the finishing tail to join the end to the
4th ch of the beg ch-5. Weave in ends.
