Read the descriptions for each category carefully
If you feel your image ticks the box for more than one category,
don’t be afraid to enter it more than once
Make sure to enjoy the whole process of creating your entries
- it’ll really show in the end result whether this a passionate
element of your life that brings you joy or not
Don’t
Fail to read the T&Cs
Enter images into the wrong category by accident. Double
check everything before clicking the submit button.
Be disappointed and disheartened if your image isn’t
shortlisted. It’s never an easy task for the judges, but please
know that they take the time to consider all elements of your
image when judging, including the entrants’ understanding and
consideration of aesthetic and conceptual ideas, along with
technical ability in‑camera

Judges are not looking for any particular
image, but will most certainly notice images
that trigger the audience’s emotional
receptors. As judges, we don’t necessarily
just want images of well-known locations but
photographs taken from anywhere in the
UK. Whether they’re of iconic locations or
simply a local scene, they’ll be given precisely
the same consideration when it comes to
assessment. Entrants might consider looking
at past winners’ images for inspiration, but
don’t be tempted to imitate anyone else’s
style. If you’ve got a photo in mind or have a
certain style, you’ll find a category that fits.
