GAMEBOARD-
From £230 (approx.),
lastgameboard.com

Colorado-based start-up The Last Gameboard
is crowdfunding a new device that pulls board
games further into the modern age. Set to
land in late 2020, Gameboard-1 is a portable
16x16-inch slate that lets users play all their
favourite games digitally, either with people
in the same room or against others online.
Whether you prefer something retro or an
all-new game made just for this device,
you’ll be able to purchase it, or borrow it via a
subscription, direct from the board. Cleverly,
Gameboard-1 even works with physical objects,
its built-in sensors capable of remembering the
identity and location of compatible pieces,
meaning you can pick up an unfinished game
where you left off.

T3 SAYS: This ingenious digital platform could
change the way we play board games forever.

UNITI ONE
From £15,100, uniti.earth

The official website of Sweden has published
a list of 10 innovations that originated in the
country, among them the adjustable wrench
and oat milk. At number eight in the list is Uniti,
a start-up whose British-engineered lightweight
electric vehicle, the One, has been dubbed a
“Tesla for megacities”. As you might expect, it
doesn’t match a Tesla’s performance (62mph in
9.9 seconds; top speed 75mph). But it’s just as
eco-friendly as Elon Musk’s vehicles, and almost
as techy, with touchscreens either side of the
steering wheel controlling most of its functions,
and an app to start and lock the car. Perhaps
most amazing of all is the battery – choose the
optional 24kWh pack and you’ll get a claimed
186 miles of driving, with a 20% to 80% charge
coming in just 17 minutes. Swede, indeed.

T3 SAYS: Futuristic and fun, this eco-friendly
runaround could take our cities by storm.
