ingle-player might
be taking point for
Call Of Duty this
year (and boy
were we thankful
to welcome Price’s ’tache
back after Blops 4), but its
multiplayer options live up
to the original Modern
Warfare name too.
The highlight for us is
Spec Ops Survival Mode,
which is exclusive to PS4 all
the way through to October
2020 – a whole year. It has
players collaborating to

survive wave after wave of
oncoming enemies, putting
the best fireteams to the
test as you try to make it as
far you can. Gather up your
friends and see how long
you can hold out for.
Spec Ops Survival Mode is
just one option, however.
There are plenty of other
multiplayer modes to enjoy,

from newcomers like 2v2
Gunfight and 32v32 Ground
War to returning classics
such as deathmatch.
Whatever online
multiplayer is your favourite,
Modern Warfare will be
keeping Call Of Duty fans
busy for a long time to
come. We’ll have a full
review next month.

live games THE MONTH IN...
FORTNITE

Have the constant
multimedia collaborations in
Fortnite become too much?
Well, that’s a question for
another month. This time
Batman himself starred,
leaving little room for
cynicism. It wasfun.

To celebrate
Batman Day,
last month DC
teamed up with Epic Games
to add some great Dark
Knight content to Fortnite.
Sometimes it just feels great
to kick back and celebrate
an icon like the Caped
Crusader with a bunch of
friends at your side, and
doing it the battle royale
way. Tilted Towers was given
a coat of paint and turned
into Gotham City, and various
skins revolving around the
Bat-Family were on offer.
With real money you could
buy skins based on the
comics and the Dark Knight
movie, plus a Catwoman skin
and bat-glider.
Most exciting
were the
gameplay
changes. The explosive
batarang and grapnel gun
really made the Fortnite
island feel a bit more like
Gotham, and collecting
hidden Bat-Signals was
a fun challenge (though I
should apologise to the rest
of my team for being too
distracted finding them to,
you know, be any good at the
game). The answer to ‘how
do you make a good game
better?’ is always ‘Batman’.

DESTINY 2
SHADOWKEEP
This massive new update to Destiny
2 came in two parts. First, the
base game was renamed Destiny
2 New Light, and reshaped around
being free-to-play. Second, the
Shadowkeep expansion dropped,
introducing some of the biggest
additions to the game yet. It’s a
must-have for hardcore Destiny-
heads – we’ll have all the details in
our big review next issue.

FINAL FANTASY XIV –
THE COPIED FACTORY
Patch 5.1: Vows Of Virtue, Deeds Of
Cruelty came to the Final Fantasy
MMO, bringing plenty of updates.
Stealing the show, of course, was
Yoko Taro, who has been designing
the Nier: Automata crossover raid
series, YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse.
5.1 introduced the first part of the
series, The Copied Factory, which
saw 24 players at a time teaming
up to take on the raid.

OVERWATCH –
BASTION’S CHALLENGE
Everyone’s favourite robo-
guardian Bastion headlined an
Overwatch event which saw plenty
of brick-themed rewards added to
the game to get people playing. (We
all love bricks, right?) Your reward
for winning nine games was the
brick skin for Bastion himself, and
it’s fast become one of our all-time
favourites. Just don’t step on him
and you’ll be okay!
