Did he have information for us but didn’t
know how to pass it? Only he will know, but
I’m sure we will return one day and try to dig
deeper in our search for those answers.
I sadly now move onto the last part of
our investigation, but easily the most
exciting for evidence captured. We always
like to try and fit in spirit box work when
we investigate. There’s just something
about it, the thought that we may be
potentially hearing the voices of the dead,
whether it be residual or intelligent, for me
personally, it’s the pinnacle of paranormal
investigating.
We’d moved to the base of the mine and
headed towards the old buildings which are
now used as offices, but I can imagine may
once have been used as living quarters.
With the spirit box on, we again started to
push and ask questions, concentrating on
the murders. Now let’s just remember, for all
the men that went on trial for the murders
of the three miners, all were acquitted. It
was seen as a tragic accident, in the eyes of
the law anyway. Yet right at the start of the
spirit box session we heard a very distinct
laughing. Now, in all honesty, coming into
this we thought that we would encounter
sadness, anger, yet at the same time, a
remorseful atmosphere. As we continued
to press, that didn’t seem to be the case.
Throughout we had the same female voice
telling us to run, as I’m writing this the hairs
are standing up on the back of my neck. She
seemed extremely concerned for us, so I
decided to ask the question “Do you really
think you can hurt me?”
The reply was harrowing as we heard the
clearest of replies saying, “You can die!”
Of course, this put us on edge, Vicky twice
saw three figures in the distance that
startled her to say the least, and on another
occasion, I spun around with the camera
as I felt someone run up behind me. It was
intense, in fact as Vicky stated when asking
if the murders were intentional, it was
downright “Disgusting!”We really felt uneasy, was it the curse that
was put upon the mine by the widowers of
those killed, or was it the killers themselves
trying to warn us and make us leave as we
were finding out too much? To be honest,
there were so many replies both intelligent
and threatening that I need to watch it back
over just to take it all in again. Vicky and I
agreed that whoever we came into contact
with really didn’t want us being there,
so much so that at the end when we said
goodbye, there was an immediate reply of
“Bye!”It was almost as if they were keeping a
secret, a pact that they weren’t willing to
break, a bond that ran deeper than the mine
they committed this horrific crime in.Magpie Mine has instantly become one
of our favourite locations. It’s beauty
in daylight combined with its sinister
undertone at night truly captured not just
our imagination but our hearts... We loved it!To Mr Thomas Wager, Mr Isaac Bagshaw and
Mr Francis Taylor, we are truly sorry for the
way in which you lost your lives. I’m sure
we’ll return one day and try to help you tell
your side of the story!Evidence Analysis
After going through the hours
of footage from Magpie Mine we
were able to put together a small
video which you can find on our
DEAD INSIGHT YouTube channel or
alternatively search ‘Magpie Mine
Investigation Dead Insight’ On the footage you’ll see we
captured a strange light anomaly
which floats into shot and then
disappears whilst still visibly in
the frame. It didn’t leave, it simply
vanished! We also captured some amazing
responses during our spirit box
session, including two names
‘Abraham and Isaac’ — Both of these
names have a documented historical
connection to the site. Magpie Mine is a strange location
and certainly not what I was
expecting. There seemed to be
a lot of unrested energy and it
definitely made for an interesting
