NEWDIVINGEXPERIENCE
MALTA’s clear Mediterranean waters
and variety of dive sites make it arguably
the best place in Europe to explore
underwater – with newly-permitted access to
eight wrecks adding to its sub-aquatic appeal.
The recently-opened sites date back to WWI
and WWII, and include aircraft, submarines
and steamers, all surrounded by reefs and
caves. This armada of sunken craft is watched
over by Kristu tal-Bahhara or ‘Christ of the
Sailors’, a statue secured to the seabed almost
30 years ago and, now, a popular dive site.
