Crafts glue
5-inch-diameter foam disk
Two 3-inch-long cinnamon sticks
Small puffy gold star

17-inch length of^1 ∕ 8 -inch-wide
lace trim: natural
Sewing thread: brown

Acrylic paint: burnt umber
Scrap of^1 ∕ 8 -inch-wide white trim

MATERIALS


Felt: white, pink, black, glittery beige
Disappearing-ink marking pen
Embroidery floss: black and white
Embroidery needle
Fabric glue
Straight pins
6-inch length of white string (optional)
Polyester fiberfill


CUT AND EMBELLISH THE FRONT


Trace patterns in Pattern Pack onto white
paper; cut out. Using a disappearing-
ink marking pen, trace each shape onto
appropriate felt color the number of times
indicated on the patterns; cut out.


CUT THE PIECES


Trace patterns in Pattern Pack onto white
paper; cut out. Cut two of circle pattern
from poster board and two from burlap.
Trace all other patterns onto appropriate
felt colors the number of times indicated
on the patterns; cut out shapes.

ASSEMBLE THE ORNAMENT


Using crafts glue, adhere the poster board
circles to the front and back of the foam
disk; let dry. Glue the burlap circles to
poster board circles; let dry.
Referring to photo, above right, glue the
cinnamon sticks near top of ornament to
form a roof. Glue a gold star on the peak.
Glue a handful of raffi a below the roof.
Let dry. Trim raffi a fl ush with ornament
edge. Glue lace trim around ornament to
cover edge.

to see stitch diagrams. Place Mary’s dress
on the white felt Mary’s background; align
bottom edges and pin shapes together.
Using brown sewing thread, blanket-stitch

to see stitch diagrams. Use two strands of
embroidery fl oss for all embroidery. Using
black fl oss, stitch the eye with a few curving
backstitches and the eyelashes with two
small straight stitches.
Glue pink inner ear pieces to white
ear pieces.

ADD THE BACK


Pin together reindeer front and back pieces
with wrong sides together. Insert the
antlers, ears, and tail between the layers.
If desired, enclose string ends between
layers for a hanging loop. Using white fl oss,
whipstitch around the body; stuff reindeer
with polyester fi berfi ll as you stitch,
leaving an opening along the chest. Stuff
reindeer fi rmly through opening. Stitch
opening closed.
Glue black felt nose onto snout.

felt layers at bottom of dress. Repeat with
Joseph’s robe and white felt Joseph’s
background. Using straight stitches, stitch
eyes on each head. Using burnt umber
paint, dry-brush cheeks on all three heads.
Glue white trim near the bottom of
Mary’s dress; trim edges. Glue gold trim to
Joseph’s head covering; trim edges. Let dry.
Referring to photo and dashed lines on
patterns, arrange felt pieces on ornament
front. Glue in place; let dry.
