ALL ABOUT YOU love

Ghosting
Have you ever experienced your lover
cutting off all ties with you abruptly? Has
he disappeared without a trace, leaving
you wondering what went wrong? It’s
a cruel move and it has a name—
ghosting. This term has caught on like
wildfire and is universally accepted by
younger generations. There is a litany of
reasons why people ghost their partners.
From avoiding conflict that comes with
breakups, to maybe being a person that
lacks empathy, men and women alike
have formed the habit of upping and
leaving without so much as a word. The
repercussions are painful.
Being left to nurse a broken heart
without understanding what went
wrong or getting closure, can be
difficult. Supriya Patil*, a 23-year-old
graphic designer from Nagpur shares
her experience with a guy she had been
seeing for almost six months. “He told
me that he was going for a trip to visit
his parents in Delhi and informed me
that he and I would catch up once he
was in town. Being an easygoing person
I didn’t want to keep calling him while
he was with his family. Little did I know
that it was the beginning of the end.
I dropped him a couple of messages,
checking in, but he didn’t respond.
I brushed it off thinking he was busy.
Two weeks passed and I didn’t hear
a word from him. I dropped him
several messages and tried calling
him as well, but he never replied. His
read receipts rang loud and clear. I had
been ghosted.”
