Easy eco
I’m sat in the bath relaxing, open
the July issue of In The Moment,
and on page four I spot an ad for
plastic-free sanitary products.
Fantastic! We’ve been trying to
cut down on our single use
plastic and that’s another easy
way I can help to do it. I haven’t
got past that page yet, now I’m
researching how to make my
own wet wipes for kids’ sticky
fingers. It’s really opened my
mind to what can be changed to
cut back on plastic – thank you
for another fabulous idea!

Staying strong
Following on from Harriet
Griffey’s column about coping
with setbacks in your June issue,
I wanted to get in touch to say
that, although I agree with her
view in some respects, I worry
that in today’s society we are
putting too much pressure on
people to bounce back quickly.
It’s important to remember
that sometimes life is just a little
bit too big and sometimes we do
need to take time out to feel our
emotions and take stock before
moving forward. After a long
time of struggling at work and
juggling fairly major personal
events, I recently took some sick
leave because I knew my mental
health had to come first.
It was one of the hardest
decisions I had ever had to make
because up to that point my
resilience had been praised and
I knew my employer valued my

ability to put on a brave face
and just get on with it. It is ok to
struggle, it is ok to need time and
sometimes it is ok not to be strong
because not being strong does not
mean you are weak.

Mum’s the word
As long as I can remember my
mum has read, loved, re-read
and kept hundreds of magazines.
Now, as I organise my hundreds
of magazines, I realise it’s just one
of many hobbies I’ve inherited
from her. In The Moment is one
of my favourites – it’s full of
gorgeous photos and I’m a
long-time fan.
