A cradled wood support was first covered with torn pages
from antique Japanese books to create an old-world base
of tones and textures. That was then built up (and mostly
covered) with handmade papers, reeds, dyed and natural
cheesecloth. and linen thread. Papers were affixed with
spray glue, heavier objects with PVA. Acrylic washes were
added for warmth. The piece was finished with several
coats of matte varnish.
