500ml(2c)strongrooibos
tea
1 cinnamonstick
30ml(2T)honey
squeezeoflemonjuice

375ml(1½c)mealiemeal
2,5ml(½t)salt
30ml(2T)butter
60ml(¼c)amasi

TOSERVE
125ml(½c)amasi
30ml(2T)darkbrownsugar


1 StewedfruitPutthe
driedfruitina glass
bowlandcoverwith
therooibostea.Leave
overnighttosoakand
rehydrate.
2 Putthefruit,cinnamon,


honeyandlemonjuicein
a saucepanorpotand
simmerovermedium
heatfor15-20minutes
oruntilthefruitissoft.
3 PapUsethemealie
mealandsalttomake
thepapaccordingtothe
packageinstructions.
Stirinthebutterand
amasi.


4 To serve Spoon the pap
into individual bowls and
put the stewed fruit on
top. Pour a little amasi
over each and sprinkle
brown sugar on top.
Serve hot.

For more fragrant


stewed fruit, add 1 star


anise, 2 cardamom


pods and the zest of


1 orangetothefruit.
